Butterfly My Way
Gel butterflies nail Glinda’s perfectly pink fluttery dress.
Step by Step
Step
Before You Begin: Prep those nails! Follow our OPI Salon Prep Basics. Apply one coat of GelColor Super Base Base Coat. Cure for 30 seconds in the OPI Star Light.
Step
Dip an oval brush in holographic chrome flakes and press into the cured base coat to cover the tip of the nail.
Step
Apply a coat of Oh, For Oz Sake over the chrome flakes. Cure for 30 seconds.
Step
Apply a thin coat of Put it in Neutral in a reverse french style to the nail leaving the tip clear. Cure for 30 seconds. Repeat for coverage.
Step
Apply a coat of Ga-Linda over Put it in Neutral. Cure for 30 seconds.
Step
Dip a detail brush in Alpine Snow™ and outline the smile line. Repeat this step creating a second line below the first. Cure for 30 seconds.
Step
Create gel butterflies by filling a silicone butterfly mold with Super Gloss Top Coat. Cure for 30 seconds and then remove gel residue with a nail wipe saturated with N.A.S. 99 Cleansing Solution. Gently remove the butterfly shapes from the mold and bend to shape.
Step
Apply a coat of Super Gloss Top Coat to the nail. Before curing, use a tweezer to place the butterfly in the uncured top coat and flash cure for 5 seconds to lock it in place. Repeat for all butterflies, then cure the entire hand for 30 seconds. Remove gel residue with a nail wipe saturated with N.A.S. 99 Cleansing Solution.
Step
Pro Tip: You can reinforce the wear of your butterflies by using a detail brush to apply more Super Gloss Top Coat around the base of the embellishment and curing for 30 seconds.
Step
The Finishing Touch: Apply ProSpa Nail & Cuticle Oil to the base of each nail and massage in.
