OPI: Where does your inspiration come from for all of your stunning nail art?

Elizabeth: Thank you so much! It all depends on the type of scene, but most of my inspiration comes from my cultural background, fashion I saw growing up, and my client’s own style and ideas. With my clients, we both come together and discuss what the “vibe” is for that particular session. We take in consideration life events and/or what will work for the upcoming weeks. The season also has a role in what we will be creating.

OPI: You've done nails for magazine covers, tv and film, photo shoots, celebrities, and more! Which moment has been the most impactful to you as an artist and to your career?

Elizabeth: There have been many beautiful and impactful moments in my life as an artist because all of them have led me to this moment in my career. I have learned and grown so much from every experience, but if I had to choose one of them it would be working with A.H.S. (American Horror Story). I am extremely grateful for being able to work on set with many other talented artists in the industry at Silvercup Studios in N.Y.C. It was a dream come true!

OPI: When doing nail art for photoshoots and celebrities, what guides the style of the look?

Elizabeth: When working with different celebrities in various photoshoots, the glam team comes together and combines ideas. There is definitely a creative direction that the glam team also gets inspired by to execute a certain look/looks.

OPI: How did you get your start in the nail world?

Elizabeth: I was a teen mom at age 14 and having to provide for my son motivated me to look for work at a nail salon. I then later on discovered that there was another way to pursue my artistic talent on set doing nails for film and tv.

OPI: With Fall well on its way, what Fall looks or shades are you most excited to do/use?

Elizabeth: With Fall I usually start transitioning from bright shades into dark, plum shades. Glitter starts entering the room as well! I am really excited about Halloween looks. Everyone gets really fun and creative with their nail art requests!

OPI: Is there a style, whether it be nail designs, shapes, or lengths, that you enjoy doing most?

Elizabeth: I enjoy doing a medium to long almond nail shape. I am also a versatile artist. I enjoy changing it up.

OPI: Does being a Hispanic nail artist influence your designs and styles when doing nails?

Elizabeth: Being Hispanic influences my style. I created this Guadalupe nail art set, which is influenced by my culture as a Mexican American. The Virgin of Guadalupe embodies love, faith, and humility.

OPI: How do you celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through both your nail career and in your daily life?

Elizabeth: I celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by connecting and uplifting not only Hispanics but all women in general. I like meeting and working together with other women who are also in the nail industry and who are also small business owners. Supporting each other is key!
